Question :
My brother has been using heroin for the past 2 years, our parents don't know yet but they are getting suspiscious on both of us. what help can he get and where should he go,to get help. I know even he wants to address it but his afraid of our family finding out.
Answer :
It is important to understand that when someone is addicted to illicit drugs it is not only a difficult ordeal for the individual who uses, but also for the whole family involved. I can understand your concerns about your brother, but it is important for him to be willing to give the illicit drugs up. There are several options that you can take, which one of the drug services should be able to help you with, and it also depends on the individual need of your brother.
Your first port of call should be “EVOLVE” which is based in the old textile museum in the Blackburn Town Centre (Next to the Town Hall). This agency will call you in for a Triage Assessment, which will look at the needs of your brother and identify which service will be best suited to his needs. I could also arrange a triage to take place at neutral venue, more suited for brother. Please contact at the number below.
In the mean time DAG also runs a free and confidential counseling service, which you, your brother or any of your family can access. If you would like more information on anything please contact me in confidence on 07734053034.
Also in the mean time make Dua for your brother and for our group, so we can help people who are trapped in addiction.
You personally get in touch with EVOLVE if they would like any further advice, information or support as a 'concerned other'.
